I'm having a similar problem with my 600x-2645 5EU where it appeared that the inverter had gone bad since I would get a quick flash of full video at boot-up and then it would go very dim (I mean turn off the room lights to barely see what was on the screen). So I bought a used one off ebay that claimed it was test and I'm getting the same result (plus I've ripped the speaker cable and broken the plastic surrounding the keyboard) but I am determined to figure this one out!!!
I've tried the reseating the CPU as explained in this thread. What else should I try / replace?
