HP nx9010 has bad CPU, but acts the same dysfunctional way with good CPU!

Hello everyone,

I am examining a motherboard from a Compaq/HP nx9010. It came with the wrong CPU (it needs a 2.8Ghz P4) but had a 1.8Ghz Celeron that gave the same problem when it was placed in another known working nx9010 motherboard. The problem was that laptop turns on, lights come on normal, fans come on normal, DVD drive turns on and off repeatedly and nothing else happens, no screen output or POST or beeping. I put good memory in it. Okay, right, so I decide to put this good 2.66Ghz P4, close to the appropriate CPU for this model, and it does the same thing! This is a very weird problem. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with this motherboard? You'd think that just the CPU is the bad apple here. Maybe bad BIOS?

Thank you!
