you can do it exactly the same way except that you'll need an adapter to allow it to connect to the IDE cable.
Keep it on a separate IDE ..
You can also use a 2,5" USB to mini IDE Adapter or even a 2,5" Case with USB

Using USB is slower but you have the advantage of Windows not trying to write "restore" info to it when it boots up.
