Why was the batteries recalled for that laptop,the problem you are having could have something to do with the battery,the shut downs could be caused by a fault on the mainboard or it could be over heating,you could wait and see if the new battery solves your problem,this is the link to the service manual for the inspiron 6000http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6000/en/index.htm
