Before taking it to a shop did you try what Tumbleweed36 suggested above. Try removing one stick of RAM at a time and reboot. See if the error (if any) is the same. I would also run MEMTEST86 below my signature to test your memory. I will let Tumbleweed36 address the Norton issue as I am unfimiliar with Norton.
Are you still getting the "Secondary IDE Channel No 80 Conductor Cable Installed" error?
