That was the problem. I had access control enabled for the LAN aspect of the filters and had entered only the new computer's mac address. This being the case, only that computer could communicate with the ap over the LAN so I had to connect the computer directly to the ap to access the ap manager through my browser and change the setting. On to the next learning experience.
