Re: IDE and SATA converter

I've got the eMachine E4220.
Hard Drive: 320GB SATA II (7200rpm, 8MB cache)3
Optical Drives: 16x multiformat dual-layer DVD±RW Drive
Up to 8.5GB with dual-layer media
Write max: 16x DVD±R, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD+RW, 4x DVD+R DL, 40x CD-R, 24x CD-RW disks
Read max: 16x DVD-ROM, 40x CD-ROM disks

The HDD, ST3320820AS is connected to SATA Port 0 and is the primary master TSST corp CD/DVDW-ATAPI.
I tried connecting my HDD ST380021A to SATA port 1 using a newly bought IDE and SATA converter from China but it wasn't recognised with 'slave' or 'cable select' jumpers.

BIOS says;-
Drive config,
Use Automatic Mode <enable>
ATA/IDE Mode <native>
Configure SATA as <RAID>

There's one 40pin IDE(?) connector on the motherboard. I tried connecting my old DVD Rom drive, model no. :DHI-G40 B with no success, to be the second device on the single IDE cable.
Thanks for your help so far Mike.
