You appear to have downloaded the XP Home version but are running XP Professional. Please follow these steps before repeating the previous instructions.

Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and select Show hidden files and folders. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types. Click OK.


Open C:\boot.ini with Notepad and delete the following line *NOTE be careful not to delete anything else from the file

C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons


Click File > Save then close the file.

Delete the following Folder

C:\CMDCONS


Reboot the PC then repeat the previous instructions making sure you download the XP Professional SP2 version.
