When I am downloading large files or streaming video/music, my connection seems to get severed and I cannot resume the download or the stream. Firefox, IE, and other browsers have the resume option for downloads but that does nothing.

My best description of this problem would be "a complete termination or severing of the connection that lasts only a millisecond but occurs every few minutes, without the option to resume or continue the download".

My only solution thus far has been to use a 3rd party downloading program that actually lets me resume downloads after they have stopped, but I end up having to manually resume each download probably around 1 time every 40mb. And even so I've found some places that the software can't resume downloads from.

Most video/audio streams will work for a few minutes until the connection gets severed, and if I want to watch any more I have to refresh the page and hope I make more progress the next time.

I just got a new pc and did not have this problem on any of my previous computers hooked up to the same ethernet broadband setup. I am wondering if this is a problem with the network adapter, if I did not run a certain installation setup of some sort with the network card or the motherboard, or if there is a quick fix. Note: I have reformatted once and nothing changed.

I have searched for a solution to this problem and had no such luck. If anybody here can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
