Hello,
I recently purchased a broken laptop from my brother, A Toshiba Satellite A75-S229, in hopes that I'd be able to open it up and fix it. The problem was that the machine would fire and launch up, but the monitor would remain completely blank. This would only happen every couple of fires or so when it first began occurring, however not the monitor will not turn on period. After this began occurring frequently my brother took it to a local repair guy, and he said that it was possible that the little button at the top of the keyboard that puts the system to sleep when closed possibly shorted out, he had also apparently opened the system and said that he wouldn't have steady enough hands to re-solder whatever needed soldering. Here's where my problem comes in. Upon receiving the system I opened it myself in order to attempt said solder fix, however I was unable to physically see any shortage on the board or any specific places that might require a solder fix. After seeing this I began exploring other possibilities. When the laptop is plugged into another monitor through the VGA out on the back it still doesn't display anything, and upon opening up the physical monitor itself I have been unable to find anything wrong with the system. Please help! Any suggestions would be more than welcome!!
