Not sure what happened but I have seen this before but have no idea what it means.

The slave drive is causing some problems. When it is connected the CD with the XP install disk is not recognized. When I disconnect the slave drive, boot up the machine with the install disk in the CD drive, XP install starts. To paraphase it says the Windows XP is being installed. Then the screen goes blank for maybe 4-5 minutes. Then a blue screen with Windows setup in white across the top., at the bottom various things scroll across now it says set up is installing Windows. A minute or so later the screen says Welcome to Setup. I am given three options, 1. To setup Windows XP Pro now, press enter. the 2. is to repair an XP installation using the Recovery Console, Press R. 3. to quit install press F3. I select the number 1 option to install. Then I am told Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your machine. Setup cannot continue press F3.

I tried that several times each time going into the WD tools and selecting the correct hard drive I run through the partition installation. The partitions is correctly installed. Remember the slave drive has no power, it was disconnected. So I know that I am on the correct hard drive which by the way the tools discover as they see both drives and I then exit the program with the partitions installed. Then I restarted the install process, same thing no hard drive is found by the installation disk.

Then I take the 6 floppies used to install Windows XP Pro and the first one runs and says now insert the second one. It starts to run installilng files and then this error message comes on "File \ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded." Error Code 7. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.

So for the last few days I have been going through this cycle and have gotten to the point where at least the Install CD Starts the installation process. And whereas I could run the setup floppies before, they no longer will run.
Now I will try loading the older set of floppies down and see if they will work.

Edited: New information. I cannot run the WD tools floppy without recoonnectin the slave drive.
