2nd harddrive problem

Hi

I recently bought the following parts, and my friend assembled them for me:

CPU Intel E6550
MB Gigabyte GA-N650 SLI-DS4L
Graphics Card Gigabyte 512MB 8600GT
2x1G Twin 667 mhz Kingston RAM and 2x512MB PC5300 DDR2 RAM
80GB Seagate harddrive.

About 4 months ago I bought a Western Digital 320GB SATA hard drive and installed it as a 2nd hard drive in my old computer, which worked fine. It has all my date on it, so I wanted to install it in my new system as a 2nd hard drive.

It worked for a day, until I tried to move a file from the E: (second) drive. A yellow exclamation mark pops up in the bottom right hand corner with this message:

Windows - Delayed write failed

Windows was unable to save all the date for the file E:\Filename. The date has been lost. THis error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection

Followed by:

Windows - Delayed write failed

Windows was unable to save all the data for the file E:\$BitMap. The date has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

It will work for a few more seconds before completely hanging, with this message in the middle of the screen:

Windows - Delayed write failed

Windows was unable to save all the data for the file E:\System Volume Information\tracking.log. The date has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

I wiped E: and reformatted, but the problem exists. My friend is out of ideas and has never seen this before. I will happily buy a new 2nd hard drive if this will fix the problem but don't want to spend the money if the problem is something else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
