my favorite image program (free one) is drive image XML

No, I had previously backed up the W2K drive fearing the worst and imaged XP to the external drive..

I have an older HP with whatever they used, it ME as an OS, and I can use a computer with Vista as the OS. But I could not install one of the drives on it. And of course the primary slave drive is up and running. I am only trying to get the master drive up and working with out the error message on it.

I have service pack 4 on the W2K. And is loaded on its drive and working OK now. Since it is on a 40 gig drive it is fully loaded on. W2K is already good to go.
The XP Pro has service pack 2 and is was up to date a month ago, I have been down that long on that computer. Although I had it up and running good for about 3 days then I had to play with the Acronis Disk Director. When I finished it was gone from the drive.
but as I said I have the full image XP Pro on my external back up drive and can move it over if and when I get the 200 gig drive working. I have access to a CD ROM, DVD ROM drive and a burning program for either.

The XP OS is gone. No data there on the 200 gig drive. But the image is waiting to be restored.

Thanks I will try it. And I now have it on Vista.
