[SOLVED] Problem installing on IDE with SATA
My system
Q6600
680i SLI LT mobo
2x2GB OCZ
150GB SATA Raptor (Vista currently installed)
2x 80GB IDE (currently both are empty, and formatted via Partition Magic 8.0)
Locations via Device manager in Vista:
SATA location: Bus Number 0, Target Id 0, LUN 0
IDE 1 location: Location 1 (Channel 0, Target 1, Lun 0) Master?
IDE 2 location: Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0) Slave?
The first drive on the cable is master, the second is slaved off of it.
My plan was to install XP on one of the 80GB's, and then use EasyBCD to rewrite the Vista bootloader, as I did this on my old machine with the same two 80GB HD's.
When I installed XP it went fine until the first reboot, at which time it got a Disk Read Error, and told me to hit ctrl+alt+del to restart. At that time, I could not boot into either XP, or Vista, so I did a complete reinstall of Vista on the 150GB SATA and formatted the 2x 80GBs, and this is where I am now.
What am I missing that's keeping me from installing on one of these 80GB drives?
