Seagate Sata Drive Native Support Fails in one OS, succeeds in other.
Hello, I've just set up HP's QuickPlay 2.3 on my HP Pavillion dv1660se Laptop, which requires a second partition on my (non-stock) Seagate ST980825AS hard drive.
Here's my problem:
I run vista as my main OS, which from the git-go didn't like native SATA support enabled in BIOS. Upon installing QuickPlay into the second partition (QuickPlayruns on embedded windows xp - I guess its kind of like having a dual-boot option), I was confronted with the BSOD while at the xp loading screen. After a while I figured out that it could have something to do with the native SATA support option in BIOS. So I enabled it, and viola, it worked fine. However if I leave it enabled, I'm left with a broken Vista when I'm done using quickplay. So in order to run my embedded windows XP, I need native SATA support enabled, and in order to run my copy of Vista, I need it disabled. I tried to (re)install an Intel ICH7-M SATA Driver to attempt to get the native support working in Vista, without success, and I have no clue how I'd go about getting the absence of native support working in my embedded XP. I believe I have the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset.
I've spent quite a bit of time googling this stuff without much actual success (I find myself resinstalling stuff I already have). Oh, and I have the latest BIOS available from HP's support website.
Thanks for any help!
