I Posted this in the Hard Drive Support Section, but I was not sure if I was getting the right Audience. I decided to post here too.
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
PC: Dell XPS 410 / Dell Inspiron E1705
PROBLEM:
I just purchased a 500GB WD SATA Hard Drive and installed it into a new USB SYBA Versa SY-UEN 3.5" Aluminum IDE/SATA Enclosure...
I was having a problem with my Desktop (my Dell XPS 410 - Internet stopped working, Johnwill tried to help but to no avail I'm stuck) so I decided to purchase the HDD to back up my files, hoping to restore my computer completely and start from scratch.
WELL, I plugged in my new set-up, and it appeared to install, but its showing it as a CD-Drive rather than a Hard Drive, and I cannot access it. In Device Manager it is under the "Disk Drive" tree as "WDC WD50 00AAJS-00YFA0 USB Device"
So, since I can't update my drivers via internet (remember, I'm disconnected) I decided to test my new set-up on my Dell Inpiron E1705 Laptop (which for some reason still can connect to the internet)...
Now I when it finished installing the drivers (automatically), I opened up "My Computer" but nothing was there (not even as a CD Drive). I went to Device Manager, and I saw it there again (under Disk Drives labeled as "WDC WD50 00AAJS-00YFA0 USB Device") and I attempted to update drivers. It said that it already had the best driver available (after a short search).
I looked through all of the forums, used the search feature, and found nothing specific to this.

**********UPDATE**********
OK!
I am at work at the moment and I brought it with me. At work we use HP Desktops with XP Home Edition. I plugged it in, and it went through the same procedure as my Laptop (the notification icon said "Installing USB Mass Storage Device", etc). When I go to "My Computer" it appears as a CD Drive...
I brought my Laptop with me so I can go back and forth between Vista and XP to check if anything would work.
Thank for any help you can provide!
(I have a feeling that its going to be an easy fix)
