Laptops in general are not for gaming, and the ones that can actually manage to play some of the modern games decently are very pricey. You should be looking for a laptop with an Nvidia 8600M chip or better (8800M GTX) Of the two laptops you linked to the Packard has the better cpu but the least desirable gpu and the Compaq has the better gpu but not as desirable cpu, neither will play games to any level of satifaction and may not be able to run some at all. If you want a laptop for gaming then this one is the closest to meeting any type of gaming performance available at Curry's.......
