gigabit network and 100 base internet?

May sound a dumb question, but as I can't find the answer anywhere I can' decide on whether to proceed;

Existing 100 base network, 2 comps + NAS drives wired
1 comp and printer/scanner running WPA-PSK & mac-addressed wireless 54g

Net connection and wired routing via 100 base Belkin adsl modem/firewall/router/54g AP which is also the DHCP server

All working, fine and dandy except the NAS/file sharing is slow... so......

If I upgrade to gigabit for the wired sector ( inc new NAS) using a gigabit switch, what happens to its speed if I uplink from the 100base belkin to the switch for internet? I assume that the wireless side stays unaffected.

Can I also assume that the DHCP will continue to work as its all still the same physical network. If DHCP won't work then I'm happy to hard code the IP addresses if required.

Thanks in advance
