Problem with accessing Toshiba USB 2.0 External Hard Drive

Hello everybody,

Last April I bought a Toshiba USB 2.0 External Hard Drive (160 Gb). I used to copy some important files from a laptop (with Windows XP) last week. Then I wanted to open the disk on my new laptop this weekend. The new laptop is running Windows Vista and gave an error with the Password Protection when I plugged in the Hard Drive ("unable to find an .ini file").

Then I plugged the hard drive into a computer running Windows XP again... The password protection was now working OK again, but for some reason it doesn't allow me to access the data on the hard drive (it only opens a directory with files for the password protection)! So all my data are if not lost, at least inaccesible!

Can anyone help me with this? Does anybody know of a trick how I can access the data on the hard drive again?

Thanks very much!
