Re: I have a problem with malware.

Thanks project626,

It is confusing trying to figure out what tools are needed for proper protection. Spyware Doctor is an anti malware program, not an anti virus and each of these programs does different things. I'll have information for you to help you better understand what's needed when we're through here. For now, you have the basic protection that's needed.

Please copy this page to Notepad and save to your desktop for reference as you will not have any browsers open while you are carrying out portions of these instructions.

It's IMPORTANT to carry out the instructions in the sequence listed below.

***************************************************

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the code box below into it:

Save this as CFScript.txt

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

**Important** When CF finishes running, the ComboFix log will open along with a message box--do not be alarmed. With the above script, ComboFix will capture files to submit for analysis.
  • Ensure you are connected to the internet and click OK on the message box.
  • A browser will open.
  • Simply follow the instructions to copy/paste/send the requested file.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Please run this online scan to search for any remnants. It can take some time, so please be patient and allow it to run it's full course:

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
  1. Click on located at the bottom of the page.
  2. A "pop up" window will appear. * Please ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it *
  3. Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click "Free Online Scan" *The download of the 8 MB Panda's ActiveX control will take place*
Begin the scan by selecting
  • If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
  • Please ignore any entry it finds and the offer to buy the program to remove the entry, as we will address this later.
  • Click on then click
* You needn't remain online while its doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Run a new scan with HijackThis and save the log.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Please include the following in your next reply:

C:\ComboFix.txt
Panda results
New HijackThis log

Also, I appreciate the effort to try to copy/paste the Avira report, but not all of it is here, and I need to see what else it has detected.

Find the Avira report you saved, then right click the file and select "Send To>Compressed (zipped) file. It will create a zip folder in the same location you saved the report.

When you post your next reply, scroll down a bit and you'll see a 'Manage Attachments' button. Use the browse button to navigate to the location of that .zip folder you just created, then click 'Upload'.
