I agree with John. That way Vista will create a boot menu instruction on the C drive ( = XP drive).
If you don't want that you should install Vista with the XP drive disconnected and the HDD boot priority in BIOS changed to the Vista drive during installation.
Then you can choose OS in BIOS or by editing boot.ini in XP - or use VistaBootPro, like John said.
