When I come to scan my hard drive it tells me it can't do it and asks to scan it on restart which it never does. See picture of this message here.

The Toshiba tech support tells me to reinstall the whole OS because they think it might be a hard drive failure and needs to be changed. They say it's the only way to isolate the problem but I hate to do that since I Have so many softwares to re-install with that. So I'm looking for another alternative.
