Possible DNS problem
I've been having some mysterious computer issues for the past week. I was getting some pop-ups, so I tried to run Ad-Aware, but I kept getting an "invalid floating point error." I followed a thread I found, similar to the ones here, and downloaded and ran ComboFix. This fixed the Ad-Aware problem, but ever since then Firefox comes up with "server not found" messages. IE still worked, so I was using that for a few days while I tried to figure out what might be wrong with Firefox, but now that's stopped working too.
I've tried unplugging/resetting the routers, checking the IPv6 settings, and running anti-spyware programs. This seems like a DNS error, as I'm able to get to Google no problem when I type in the IP address, but switching to OpenDNS did nothing and the three other computers running off my cable connection are working fine. Flushing the DNS cache didn't work, either.
Is it possible that Combofix altered something on my computer that's preventing the browsers from working? Or could some malware be causing this? I've been getting some annoying pop-ups lately, especially after I switched to IE (though that wouldn't really explain why Firefox stopped functioning before that). I also tried using a system restore point, from before I downloaded ComboFix, to no avail.
