Hi,
The 358956-001 is the part number for the CD ROM for a compaq armada 6500 series notebook. This one should work. Here is another link:

This list both CD Rom And DVD Rom with the aproppiate replacement part numbers.

PS. I do not think it is required to disassemble the laptop to find the correct CD-Rom
