Questions that got me stumped.

Why does my original chip allow the power lights and fans to come on, and the new pre-programmed chip don't. The company has double checked my system info and assured me that the chip's flashed succesfuly? Does the bios control the power to the computer?
What would cause the computer to not boot to bios if the bios was ok? Will a computer post without memory or cpu installed? What is the CMOS and could it get damaged or corupted? Can it be replaced? Because clearing it or reseting it doesn't seem to have any effect on it. What would cause the computer to freeze up at start up?
