Well, I'd be really stuck if I needed Safe Mode because a loop formed which just went back to the same error.

When I redid the clone from floppy, it went through ok. I booted to the new clone as an 'only' and the whole bootup went through ok.

Thanks for answering, i usually come back when I solve the problem but forgot.
