That alone tells me a lot about you and this site. You have my respect right there.
Then I'll start apologizing for our "not-so-fast" response

Seem to only run into trouble when games and all will crash or not install correctly. I know how to use computer and fix most simple problems, however, when it gets into coding or anything like that I am competely ignorant. You guys made me feel like more of a nerd (and I like it) after reading your 5 step rules. I run the programs you recommend; Hijackthis, ad-aware and spy bot search and destroy.
Running the programs we list in "the steps" is a good start, but how well do you understand the results? HJT for instance won't remove a thing unless you tell it to do so... but in order to be able to do so, you must understand the scan results it presents you. So my question is: How wel are you into this?

Did you recently have malware infections?

Another question I'd like to have answered is which version of DirectX you have installed?

I am ADD when it comes to gaming and was bored so i went out and bought a new game called "Overlord." I installed the game and after the installation I new something wasn't right to begin with. The desktop icon it placed didn't look correct. When i clicked on it, I landed this error about the file XINPUT9_1_0.dll. I surfed the net and figured out it was a directx issue so all I had to do we reinstall directX. Problem there was fixed.

Now I have a new issue I have never run into befor. When I click on the exe I get this error "The procedure entry point TraceMessage could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll"

I have been all over the web looking into this and can not find anything solid enough that I am willing to try. Any help will be great. I have however tried to replace the file but even in safe mode windows will not let me do it because its in use.

Thanks guys....gals.... if your here too... lol
Sure the file is in use; you could replace it by copying a known good one (from a computer running the same operating system and service packs) to your hard disk, write down that location; then find the file in use (Usually %SystemDisk%\%Windir\System32); in which %SystemDisk% is the drive where you boot your W2K from (C:); and %WinDir% is the name of the directory that was given to Windows' directory on the hard disk (WinNT, or Windows, etc. etc.)

Next check out one of these two programs:

EMSO Move on Boot

or

GiPo Move on Boot

Both programs are freeware.

Install one of these and set it to move the new file to the right location. Then... reboot

Please report back with the result!
