I downloaded the winsockxpfix. Now when I try to repair the connection I get kicked off my wireless connection. I still am able to get an 'excellent connection' to "Free public wireless". I have both windows to configure wireless settings and the smartcard WLAN utility. The utility gives me the ip address, submask and dns of the Free public wireless-169.254.77.32, 255.255.0.0, and 192.168.2.1, respectively. In addition to the free wireless, there are a few other networks (not Adhoc like the Free public), that I can get connections to. When i view connection there are packets being sent but none, or few, getting through. I did have to do a complete system cleaning of my computer and reinstall the operating system , drivers, etc after a nasty virus or something or other, about 8 mos ago. Do you think this may have had something to do with my computer's inability to pull up a web browser even though I have great wireless connections?
