What do you mean join a team?
I will try and explain the best I can.

If a member has an above average skill in a area of computing, for example Microsoft O/S, and they post in the Microsoft Help sections and the advice is good and helpful, the MS team will eventually pick up on the member and ask them to join the MS team.

Team members will also have a banner in their signature along with a colour as their user name, also with what team they are in along with their rank underneath their username:

Microsoft Team

Colour In username: Tech , Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Hardware Team

Colour In username: Tech, Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Article Team

Colour In username: Tech, Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Alternative Computing Team

Colour In username: Tech, Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Security Team

Colour In username: HJT Trainee, Senior Trainee Analyst, Analyst Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Gaming Team

Colour In username: Tech, Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Automotive Team

Colour In username: Gear Head, Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Networking

No Banner...

Colour In username: Tech, Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Graphic design

Too many to show (I think a lot of the members make the banners themselves.)

Colour In username: Tech, Mentor, Moderator, Manager

Administrators

These are the big boys

Colour:: Administrators

Non tech members:
Registered User, TSF Enthusiasts (You get this when you reach 500 posts) and TSF Supporters . With the latter two you can have a custom Avatar.

I hope this helps.
