does the hard drive sound like its trying to spin up ???? can you feel any vibrations when the drive is powered ???
if not; then there is no "affordable" means of recovery that I am aware of.
you could try to get the same exact drive model and replace the "board" in the drive, not the platters themselves!
but thats a real long shot
