Laptop help/what should i do/....

Alright, i have recently got an old laptop (2001)
its a Dell latitude CPx H500GT (somthin like that)
anyway the motherboard has problems with it and i want a new laptop...what should i sell it for? I need some money...and where could i sell it (i cant do ebay...im only 16)
as for the laptop i want

Budget: How much money are you willing to spend on the laptop?
enough but im a kid so im rather poor...um between 300-500

Screen: What size screen do you want, and do you need widescreen?
i think a small screen owuld do...nothing huge

Brands: Are there any brands you want or don't want to buy?
id like alienware but those are expensive

Mobility: How much will you need and how long does the battery need to last?
it should last about 4-8 hours

Durability: Does this laptop need to be sturdy or durable/semi-durable?

it should be durable (ill be taking it to school to do my work)
Multitasking: Will you be multitasking with this laptop and if so, how much?
yeah like surfing teh web/playing songs or vids or playing games while playing vids/songs

Gaming: Will you be gaming and if so, how much and how new are the games?
yeah i love gaming...


Calculations: Will you be doing any intense calculations or multimedia encoding?
um...not sure....

Storage: How much storage will you need and what will you be storing?
80gb or higher

Optical Media: Will you need to burn any optical media like CDs or DVDs?
yes both

Operating System: Do you want Windows XP or Vista, or Linux compatibility?
XP....if its cheaper

Location: What country do you live in?
united states

would it be better to build a laptop or?
