Ok, to answer how computer is behaving now, everything seems fine. I do not see any obvious suspicious programs running in the task manager. I haven't got any popups, and no fake ad scanners are trying to install and run. The only thing that isn't back to normal is my desktop icons. Before this all began, my desk top icons title background color was set to transparent, and now they are no longer transparent, but solid black (when this stuff started happening, the first thing I noticed was the desktop icon title background color changed from transparent to blue. I have not found a way to change them back, but it is probably something simple that I'll google for). Anyway, thanks a lot for your help so far, it is really appreciated!
