Symptoms:

The last few weeks the computer has been slow online. The last few days the computer stops responding. The mouse pointer moves with the mouse, sometimes in slow motion (lagging) and clicking on anything doesn't work.
Ctrl Alt Del, will not bring up the task manger. This now happens within 30 seconds of logging on the computer. I can get it to run a little longer in safe mode, but it eventually does the same thing.

I ran Hijackthis before coming to the thread and following the directions. I followed steps one, and two, but was unable to get the online scan to work. The computer locks up before it finishes. Also I removed the "my web search" in the add/remove programs but it remains on the list and when I click uninstall I get an error. The specified module could not be found. I was unable to keep the computer up long enough to run the dss program
