Yeah, if you haven't installed the updated audio drivers, then maybe rolling back to the original bios will fix your problem. I haven't reformatted and reinstalled yet, but I think I'll have to in order to get full audio functionality back. I've tried just about everything I can think of, but no matter what I do, the best I've been able to get is plain stereo audio. The audio driver from the Asus CD will not install, saying that the device isn't there. I even called Asus support, which was a complete waste of time.

The updated bios apparently changes the azalia controller to a HD audio controller. Reinstalling the original bios changes it back to azalia supposedly. I don't know if upgrading the bios made a permanent change to the audio chip or what, but Windows can't seem to find the azalia device any more. I don't know what the difference is either, but I can tell you that on my box, it has been a total disaster.

Please post back here if rolling back to the original bios fixes your problem.
